Dr. Nikki Westbrook provides thoughtful, physician-led psychiatric care for adults ages 18 and older, with a focus on helping you feel grounded, informed, and supported as you move forward.

She approaches psychiatric symptoms comprehensively, considering past experiences, medical history, and current life stressors. Her goal is to provide careful evaluation, diagnostic clarification, and evidence-based clinical guidance to help you work toward meaningful improvement.

Meet the Provider

Nikki Westbrook, MD

Dr. Nikki Westbrook is a board-certified General Psychiatrist through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She provides care to adults ages 18 and older, with a particular focus on young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and ADHD.

Dr. Westbrook earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina in 2016 and her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in 2021. She completed her General Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Carolina / Prisma Health–Midlands in 2025.

Dr. Westbrook is affiliated with Southern Psychiatry and currently offers in-person initial consultations and follow-up appointments at Southern Psychiatry’s location in Columbia, South Carolina.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Westbrook is affiliated with the South Carolina Office of Mental Health and Piedmont Medical Center.

Referrals

A referral may be required, and new patient intake forms should only be submitted after your referral has been accepted.

The Initial Consultation

Before your appointment

  • All referrals and appointment requests are reviewed before scheduling.

  • If your referral is accepted for an initial consultation with Dr. Westbrook, Southern Psychiatry office staff will contact you with instructions for completing and submitting the new patient intake forms and help schedule your appointment.

  • Please wait to complete the intake forms until your referral has been approved.

During your appointment

Your initial evaluation is designed to provide diagnostic clarity and establish an individualized treatment approach and can expect the following.

  • Detailed review of your medical, psychiatric, and treatment history

  • Discussion of current symptoms and concerns

  • Initial diagnostic impression

  • Collaborative discussion of treatment goals & plan which may include:

    • Determination of appropriateness for outpatient psychiatric care or referral to a higher or alternative level of care if indicated

    • Medication when clinically appropriate.

    • Consideration of additional labs or imaging

    • Initial recommendations regarding therapy, sleep, and lifestyle factors

After your appointment

  • Follow-up visit to be scheduled

  • Telehealth visits may be offered at provider’s discretion

  • For non-urgent clinical questions, you can contact Southern Psychiatry office staff at 803‑764‑3555 to leave a message for Dr. Westbrook. Please allow 24–48 hours for a response.

  • In the event of an emergency or crisis, call 911/988, South Carolina Mobile Crisis at 833‑364‑2274, or go to your nearest emergency department.
